NewsFavor.com was launched in early 2011 when founder, Storm Buckingham, used her editorial and publishing background to create a custom-newspaper as a surprise for her own husband and guests on their wedding day.
Storm and her husband had agreed early on when planning their wedding that they would include only traditions that resonated with them both as a couple. When the time came to select a wedding gift for her husband-to-be, Storm knew that she wanted to give him something that would be both meaningful and unique.
She followed many wedding blogs, and pored over wedding magazines looking for the perfect token of her love, but quickly came to realize that it was not at all easy to find something that did not simply feel like a gift for gift’s sake. She decided that she would use the labor of love to create something for her husband herself, thinking of ways to use her love for the written word to capture the essence of their love story.
Because her husband loved reading the Sunday morning paper in bed Storm thought that a custom written newspaper would be perfect! She knew that she wanted to give her wedding guests a keepsake that they would love and cherish too and so decided to create a newspaper which would include advice from all of their nearest and dearest – without letting anyone know what she had in store.
She worked on several drafts of the newspaper, editing and redrafting it until was just right. The result was the “Happy Times”, a four-paged newspaper describing the journey which she had embarked on with her husband from the day that they first met to the present, along with the most meaningful memories experienced with close friends and family
The day of their wedding arrived. The couple had an intimate wedding on a country estate which allowed for their guests to stay overnight. Storm had made prior arrangements with the wedding venue to have the limited edition “Happy Times” newspaper handed out to their guests the next morning as they made their way to the breakfast table.
Their overnight wedding guests received their one-of-a-kind wedding newspaper with a mixture of confusion, then absolute delight. Storm quickly realized that she hadn’t printed enough newspapers when some couples decided to take an extra copy home! Her husband saved his newspaper as a keepsake of the first day of the rest of their lives together and has it framed in their living room today.
